7 Amazing Places to Visit in Hong Kong

Although it is fact that Hong Kong cannot be compared to any other location of the world, there are some people who say that it is something like Sicily. No wonder, since both places are surrounded by the sea and this is something that affects both the people and the culture.

1. Victoria Peak

If you would like to see all of Hong Kong in only one image, then this is the place to start. This way you will see all the buildings, all the harbors, not to mention the city life and you will be thinking that Manhattan is like a small town compared to the view that you see. Although the peak offers a sight of this kind, you shouldn’t think that it is remote.

2. Lin Heung Tea House

If you enter to the teahouse, you will have the feeling that you are trapped in 1962. The name of the place means ‘Fragrant Lotus’ and it is a place that really tries to keep the traditions. There aren’t many modern items that you will see, and the same thing is true for the English language. This means that you will have to pantomime to make people understand you, or go with a friend who speaks the language.

3. Charter a junk

Although a lot of people think that Hong Kong is one city, you should know that it is made of about 260 distinct islands. To get to see the real islands of Hong Kong you should get on a junk – a traditional fishing boat. Find a more remote island and rest a bit with some beverages and don’t forget to take a swim.

4. Temple Street night market

If you are into shopping, this is the place to start. The market looks like Chinatown as we have seen it in the movies, and it has everything you can think of including food and counterfeit items.

5. Star Ferry

This is an icon of Hong Kong. They link the majority of the islands, and in case you are looking for cheap means of travel, this is the way to go. The best thing is that you can get a look of the city. You have the possibility to opt for the tour that will show you most of the islands.

6. Aberdeen

Another important place to visit is Aberdeen, also known as Hong Kong Tsai. This small fishing village is said to be the origin of the now blooming city. In our days the city is best known for the floating village, coming with floating restaurants.

7. Lights

In case you would like to see lights and sound show, then you must see the Symphony of Lights. The lights and lasers are operated from the tallest skyscrapers of the city. The show is held every day at 8 pm and there are some places that offer the perfect view of the show.

There is a lot to do in Hong Kong. You just have to make time for everything that you want to experience.

  1. Thanks for the sensible critique. Me and my neighbor were just preparing to do some research about this. We got a grab a book from our local library but I think I learned more from this post. I am very glad to see such excellent information being shared freely out there.
